HA “camper hamper”-see what I did there? Once you’ve been camping in your RV for more than one night you realize that dealing with dirty laundry becomes an issue for us all. Once you camp with a family of five for over a week—wow. Where the hell do you put it all? Some friends just threw a regular plastic hamper in their shower, but I really don’t want to do that because then you have a hamper in your shower. There are a few great solutions out there to best use your camper’s space, whether you are doing laundry in your RV, at the campground, or just waiting it out until you get home. Here are a few creative RV hamper and laundry basket solutions for you to consider.
Hanging Hamper
This hanging laundry bag is what we use in our camper. Hands down, this is THE BEST solution I have found. I hate wasting time on laundry while we are on vacation. I would rather use our space to pack a boat-load of clean clothes to get us through the whole trip and just deal with the mountain of laundry when I am back home. These bags allow me to have an entire hanging hamper bag for each closet in our camper, which almost amounts to one per person! And they are a surprisingly cheap camper hamper solution.
These hanging laundry bags hang from one hanger that goes on your closet rod. These are a genius space-saving RV laundry hack as far as I am concerned because when empty they hang straight down and take up almost zero space. As you use your clothes they do fill up and take up some space, but that’s okay because the hanging clean clothes are getting used and freeing up space. I just works out! Plus they are in your closet so you don’t have to look at them. And they are washable!
Bonus tip, since each person in my camper has their own laundry bag, when I get home from a long trip I do each load separately. This way it is super easy to get through all of the vacation laundry since it is already pre-sorted by family member making it easy to put away!
Narrow Camper Hamper
I just love saying that! These hampers are are so cute and space saving at the same time. They are sturdy enough to stand up and do not require a closet to hang. These are actually collapsible hampers, even though they don’t look flimsy at all. This would be great if you want to fold them up while you are traveling and you can take them out once you need them. They are affordable but still look nice in your space. And since they come in several colors, they can fit in with your RV’s décor. They have convenient handles to carry to the laundromat or into your house. I think this would make a great option, especially if you don’t have the closet space to use a hanging hamper.
Over The Door Hanging Hamper
Behind the door is wasted space in our homes and in our campers, so why not use it? There are actually a few different options for over the door laundry bags. Some are more tailored, while others come in bold patterns which might be super cute in your RV. Here is a great kid-friendly camper hamper that comes in a lot of colors. For these to make sense, you would need a camper that has actual doors, of course. But these would be great laundry hampers for your bunkhouse, if you have a separate master bedroom, or even in your RV bathroom. We did not choose this option because we have barn-door style sliding doors in our master, but if your RV has regular doors separating rooms, or if you only need one and can utilize the bathroom door, these would be a great option. Also- washable!
Pop-up Cube Hampers
These are so cute and versatile. It is a set of two, one large and one small, mesh collapsible storage cubes/hampers. The best part of these RV hampers is that they not only collapse but they multi-task. You can use these storage cubes to pack your clean clothes and load your RV, and as you use your clothes you can use them as hampers. When we had our Class-C I bought canvas storage cubes from Walmart to store the kids’ clothes since they did not have a separate space with a closet. I used the cubes to pack the clothes, carry them out, and placed them at the foot of the loft bed. They worked fine, but these would have been so much better! You have one cube and one tall hamper. They are mesh- so breathable and see through! Plus they have handles to make them easy to carry. I can see these being perfect for tent camping, or RV camping in a pop-up, loft bed in a class C, or really any situation.
Collapsible Laundry Basket
This option is an actual laundry basket, not a hamper. These are great for anyone planning to do laundry at a campground. They start out just like a laundry basket you would have at home with handles and somewhat rigid sides and are pretty darn big. But they collapse to almost flat. You could store a couple of these in your under bed storage area, or really just about anywhere in your RV. They are super easy to pop open when you need them and carry your laundry to the campground laundromat, or use in your camper if you have a washer/dryer. These actually make so much sense, you should just pick some up for your house too.
